Maurice Giro of the New Jersey family law firm Giro Attorneys at Law, LLC brings over two decades of legal experience to his practice. Mr. Giro is experienced in resolving all types of family law disputes and issues, including divorce, child custody, paternity, child support, alimony, grandparent visitation, adoption, and many other issues. Mr. Giro is committed to partnering with his clients to assist them in obtaining the best outcome possible to their family law dispute. He takes the time to listen to his clients’ needs and concerns. His experience has taught him that family law cases are rarely cold and indifferent legal matters with clear answers: instead, family law disputes frequently involve clients whose emotions are raw and intense and who are worried and anxious about how the resolution of their case will impact their futures and the future of their families.

Mr. Giro currently serves as the municipal prosecutor for Union City and has previously served as both a municipal prosecutor and public defender for West New York. This means that he is not afraid of fighting for his clients’ rights in and out of the courtroom. He is a confident and skilled advocate who is able to effectively communicate the law and persuasively present the facts of his clients’ situations to the court. By partnering with his clients throughout his representation and assisting them in setting the goals and objectives for their cases, Mr. Giro is able to take the tactical steps necessary to help his clients’ achieve the outcomes they desire in their cases.

Mr. Giro is a graduate of Thomas Edison State College and Rutgers University School of Law. Mr. Giro speaks English and Spanish fluently and he is admitted to practice in the courts of both New Jersey and New York.

  • Appointment as a Special Assistant and Deputy Attorney General to Attorney General Robert J. DelTufo;
  • Successfully argued in the Supreme Court of New Jersey to rewrite the law on employer internal sexual harassment investigations (Payton v. New Jersey Turnpike Authority, 148 N.J. 524 [1997], 691 A. 2d 321);
